JCoR Workshop for Religious in Zimbabwe

JCoR-Zimbabwe is offering a peacebuilding workshop from 29 June to 1 July 2023 in Mutare. This workshop will be a gathering to follow-up on the JCoR-CMRS workshop held last October in Gweru, and it will focus on Sustainable Development Goal 16: peace, justice, and strong institutions. It will also be an opportunity to organize ourselves to support healthy participation of Zimbabweans in our upcoming national elections, to contribute to the maintenance of a peaceful environment in our localities throughout the process, and to prepare those who are interested to assist in election monitoring. We aim to have each member congregation of CMRS represented among the participants.

This national initiative is celebrated each year on the first Saturday of December, because that is typically the point in the country’s rainy season when soil is primed for seedlings to take root successfully. A large number of tree seedlings were acquired and distributed for this campaign by the Dominican Sisters of Peace and Claretian Missionaries, who are coordinating JCoR’s activities in…
