CSW70 Parallel Event: Invisible Violence, Suffocating Silence

On 18 March 2026, from 8:00am-9:30am (New York time), JCoR will be co-sponsoring a parallel event on the margins of the 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women.

Sponsors: Justice Coalition of Religious, Passionists International, International Presentation Association, Company of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate

Description: This event will feature perspectives from the Republic of the Congo, India, Guatemala, and South Africa on persistent gaps between the establishment of gender-responsive policies and laws and the lived reality of gender injustice. Speakers will bear witness to both legal and cultural barriers to justice for women and girls who have experienced both visible and invisible forms of gender-based violence or discrimination. Speakers will also illuminate promising initiatives that seek to overcome these barriers through structural accountability mechanisms, popular education, and normalization of dialogue about gender stereotypes and infringements on the rights and dignity of women and girls.
